Tampa, FL — This August election is crucial, and it could decide a quarter of Florida’s legislative seats. That’s why SEIU Florida, LULAC 7250, Mi Familia Vota and Florida Immigration Coalition have joined forces with Telemundo Tampa to launch the Yo Decido candidate forum highlighting Latino issues, giving Tampa residents a chance to speak directly with local candidates.
“The purpose of this forum is to give candidates an opportunity to address Hispanic voters,” said Ivan Garrido from Mi Familia Vota. Florida’s Latino voters are more important than ever, and by coming together, they can affect real change, empower their communities and create equal opportunities.
Members of the audience and the media will have the opportunity ask candidates important questions about the issues they are facing. Telemundo Tampa Anchor Cristina Piug will be moderating the event. Candidates for State Senate, School District, and County and Circuit Court Judges have been invited to attend, and many have already agreed to participate in the forum.
SEIU Florida represents over 55,000 active and retired healthcare professionals, public employees and property service workers in the state of Florida. SEIU members provide vital public services in Florida’s hospitals, nursing homes, public schools, community colleges, municipal and county governments, malls and universities.
