Members of a group fighting to increase the minimum wage will hold protests across the Tampa Bay area and around the country today.

Florida’s Fight for $15 movement plans a day of action for low-wage workers to protest unfair pay and treatment of minimum-wage workers.

Wal-Mart employees from Tampa plan to join the protest, an organizer for OUR Walmart said on Wednesday. The group plans to deliver a petition signed by 2,300 employees to managers of the Wal-Mart at 2701 East Fletcher Ave. The petition demands $15 an hour and full-time employment.

Organizers of the Fight for $15 movement, which began in November 2012, expect more than 60,000 to participate in the April 15 protests in 200 U.S. cities and 35 countries.

The Fight for $15 protests will begin 10 a.m. outside St. Petersburg’s City Hall then move to Tampa’s City Hall, University of South Florida and businesses in the afternoon.
